I am currently under contract with North Atlantic Books to write Second Chances: Addiction and Hope in Our Communities.
Second Chances: Addiction, Hope and Recovery in Our Communities highlights stories of people in recovery to introduce strategies that community members can use to support their friends and neighbors in recovery. The book takes a public health approach to recovery support and uses in depth interviews with people in recovery, researchers, and advocates in towns and cities in the US to define recovery and provide community actions and public health interventions based on the four pillars of recovery (Home, Health, Purpose, Community).
Communities can be a resource for healing, and people in recovery can bring hope and passion to their communities. In this book, readers will learn how to harness resources to build a community response to addiction and make their communities healthy places for people in recovery, preventing relapse and giving them the chance for a bright future. Second Chances shows readers that recovery is possible, there is hope for people with addiction, and we all have a part in helping to sustain recovery and hope.
